Florida Reimbursement Assistance for Medical Education Program (FRAME)

The Florida Reimbursement Assistance for Medical Education (FRAME) program aims to promote the practice of qualified medical professionals in underserved areas of the state. The FRAME program offers annual payments to offset loans and educational expenses incurred during the pursuit of medical, dental, mental health, or nursing degrees and licensure.

New for 2024-25

On March 21, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis signed components of the 2024 ‘Live Healthy’ legislation package, which bolsters Florida’s health care workforce, broadens access to quality health care, and fosters innovation in the industry. This package included SB 7016, which creates and expands training programs that will help to develop and retain Florida’s health care workforce in order to meet the needs of our growing state.

Specific to the FRAME programs, this legislation expands eligibility for the programs, establishes limits for program participation and awards, and sets forth new volunteer service requirements for program participation.

• Mental health professionals, including licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed mental health counselors, and licensed psychologists are eligible to participate in the FRAME program.
• Autonomous Practice Advanced Practice Registered Nurses practicing in a health professional shortage area (HPSA) with a score of less than 18 are eligible to participate.
• Dental Hygienists are eligible to participate in the FRAME dental program.
• The eligible practice settings for the FRAME dental program have been expanded to include private practice settings.
• The total program funding available for award has significantly increased.
• All applicants must provide 25 Hours of volunteer primary care services in a free clinic or through another volunteer program operated by the state to be eligible for an award.
